Tips: What is The Difference Between Hipot Test and Megger Test?
The hipot test and the megger test is substantially the same wiring. The withstand voltage test or the high voltage hipot test is a 100% line test used to verify the quality and electrical safety characteristics of the product. This type of test is carried out by subjecting the input line of the electrical product to a high voltage for a specified period of time, and the safety mechanism specifies the amount of high pressure for each product type.
The megger test is mainly to measure the equivalent resistance value formed by the related networks between the two end points and the periphery thereof. The megger test refers to the insulation resistance between the two parts of the conductor separated by an insulating material. In order to ensure the safety of electrical equipment operation, a minimum requirement is imposed on the insulation resistance between the conductors of different polarity (different phases) or between the conductor and the casing.
The megger test is measured by an insulation resistance tester (below 10000V) or an insulated shaker (below 2500V). Since the test voltage is relatively low, many insulation defects are not easily found, and the hipot test voltage is high, and it is easy to find high-voltage equipment.
