Tips: Why need to oversize the single phase VFD
The variable frequency drive supplied by ATO.com can operate with single phase input. However, to provide three phase power to the AC motor when only single phase input power is obtained, for this application, the internal components of the 1-phase VFD must be enlarged, otherwise the load must be decreased. Either way, VFDs in 1 phase applications must be oversized to withstand the increased bus voltage ripple and increased input current. If you do not oversize variable frequency drive for the motor in a single phase application, what is waiting for you will be continuous failures.
