Tips: Working principle of rectifier transformer

The windings are composed of two independent wires of primary and secondary and share an iron core. The primary winding is connected to the AC power supply, and the alternating current flows in to generate magnetic potential. The magnetic flux flows in the closed iron core. Alternating current of the same frequency is induced in the secondary winding.

At the beginning of the transformer, the turns ratio of the secondary winding is equal to the voltage ratio. In order to obtain multiple output voltages, some transformers can have multiple secondary windings and taps.
