Tips: Soft starter installation methods
- The soft starter should install indoors in accordance with the shell protection level (usually IP20) requirement.
- Should install vertically, in the top and bottom of the soft starter should leave space at least 200mm width to facilitate heat dissipation.
- If the control cabinet is equipped with thermal relay, should use segregation board to prevent cold or hot airflow blowing to the thermal relay, to avoid affecting the action value of the thermal relay.
- Carefully read the instructions to understand the function of each terminal, ensure correct wiring.
- Usually don't use megger test the phase and relative to the ground insulation resistance. If it is necessary, must let three-phase input and output short circuit, and unplug all the plugs on the control panel, and then testing.
- When the soft starter input connects to the power supply, the output will bring a high induction voltage when the load opens circuit or loss of phase. So when in installation, commission, maintenance and use, prohibit contacting the soft starter output terminal, so as not to causing electric shock accident.
- If soft starter connects compensation capacitors to improve the power factor, the capacitor must connect to the soft starter input terminal, not output terminal, otherwise it will cause damage to the soft starter.
- The soft starter input and output terminals can't be connected reversely, otherwise it may cause damage to the soft starter and motor.
- If the soft starter has bypass contactor, carefully wiring (connect the contactor main contact) , can't cause short-circuit accident.
- When measure the motor insulation resistance, must disconnect the three lines between soft starter before proceeding.
