Tips: Differences between AC contactor and DC contactor
- Different iron core: The iron core of an AC contactor is laminated by the insulated silicon steel sheets, which is in a double E shape; The iron core of an DC contactor is made from a whole soft iron, which is in a U shape.
- Different arc-extinguishing system: The AC contactor mainly adopts a splitter arc-extinguishing while the DC contactor adopts a magnetic quenching device.
- Different turns: AC contactor has fewer turns that are connected with the AC while DC contactor has more turns that are connected with DC. On-off of AC contactor is controlled by AC while that of DC contactor is controlled by DC. Highest operation frequency of AC contactor is 600 times per hour, the cost is low; while that of DC contactor could be as high as 2000 times per hour, the cost is high.
Contact circuit rated current 200 amps, 2 pole DC contactor with 12V/24V/48V coil for choice, DPST-NO, DPST-NC contact form, two interlocked contacts are designed to prevent the motor from running forwards and backwards simultaneously.
