Tips: The Relationship between Various Parameters of Industrial Camera Lens

1. Relations between focal length and other parameters
The smaller the focal length, the greater the depth of field.
The smaller the focal length, the greater the distortion.
The smaller the focal length, the more severe the vignetting phenomenon, reducing an image’s brightness at the peripheral region.

2. Relations between aperture and other parameters
The larger the aperture, the higher the image brightness.
The larger the aperture, the smaller the depth of field.
The larger the aperture, the higher the resolution.

3. Relations between image center and periphery
Generally, the resolution in the image center is higher than one at the peripheral.
Generally, the brightness of the image center is higher than that of the image periphery.

4. Relations between light wave length and image resolution
With the same industrial camera and lens parameters, the shorter the light wavelength of the illumination source, the higher the resolution of the image. Therefore, in machine visual system that requires precise size and position measurement, the use of short-wavelength monochromatic light as the illumination source is highly effective in improving system accuracy.
