Tips: What is a shunt capacitor?

Shunt capacitor, formerly known as phase-shifting capacitor. It is mainly used to compensate the reactive power of the inductive load of the power system to improve the power factor and the voltage quality and reduce the line loss. Single-phase shunt capacitor is mainly composed of core, shell and outlet structure. The metal foil (as a polar plate) is folded together with an insulating paper or plastic film, which consists of a number of components, insulating pieces and fasteners that are pressed together to form a capacitor core and impregnated with insulating oil. The lead wire of the capacitor plate is connected by string and connected in series and parallel to the outlet connecting piece of the lower end of the outlet porcelain casing. The metal shell of capacitor is filled with insulating medium oil.
